Totally Stuffed

I fell madly in love with these gorgeous Stuffie animal patterns by Violet Field Threads
I am fairly sure I own almost all of them but today I want to show off 3.

Blushing Bunny, Fiona Fox and Dainty Deer

My Blushing Bunny is made from quilting cotton, with polar fleece for the tummy paws and tail

She comes with an elasticated slip dress and the cutest fur (polar fleece and satin) stole.

Her lashes are to die for and created with some brown hand embroidery thread.

Of course she can't be blushing bunny without some pink cheeks, made from pink homespun.

Dainty Deer is made with quilting cotton too.
She has a lovely simple skirt made from furnishing fabric, a halter neck top made from broderie anglaise.

Her flower crown was a cheat on my part. I picked it up for a couple of dollars at KMart.

Her Lashes are a little less showy, and are made from quilting cotton and attached using Visoflex

Fiona Fox is much like her sisters and is made from quilting cotton. Her body material was actually a fat flat I had in my stash. Another simple skirt and a bandana, make up the staples of her wardrobe.

The pattern for Fiona Fox also includes a knit headband. This one is made from some scrap lycra I had left over from lining a white leotard.

I really enjoy making dolls, I'm not 100% sure why they resonate with me so much. It certainly wasn't that didn't have any as a kid because I had my fair share. Perhaps it's just that I get to pick their outfits and they never complain :)

Stella

For close to a year now I have been working with Rebecca Page patterns. I started off pattern testing and am now a Brand Ambassador. Each month I sew a new pattern for them. This month was the Stella Coat
Adorable Adara volunteered to be my model for this one :)

The Stella is fully lined, has hidden buttons and a truck load of other features

Like a welt pockets and princess seams

The back of Stella is very full and I used the panel construction to do some colour blocking.
This was mostly because I didn't have enough of the floral print but it turned out awesome!

It has a high low hem, which makes AA's legs look a little longer

While AA likes the look of the coat open, during winter it's better off buttoned up and in these pictures we added a cowl scarf, making it very cosy and warm.

As a little bit of extra wow this coat has mock sleeve buttons and a mock belt.

This is definitely one of the best garments I have ever sewn and as with almost all the Rebecca Page Patterns I learnt a lot of new skills.
If you would like to sew one up for yourself you can purchase the pattern through my affiliate link bellow and get 23% off for the next 6 days

If you do sew one up I would love to see it

Life moves fast and other musings

I'm not sure you are supposed to leave years between blog posts but here we are....
Last time I posted I said I would show you what else I made from My Little Plumcake's Frolic Collection. True to my word (if only a little later than expected) I went back through my photos and found some gorgeous pictures!!!

This beautiful Red set includes, Frolic Shorts, Crop Top, Chiffon Circle Skirt

I love adding little details, like this decorative gold heart button

With matching ones on the back of the top (also only decorative as I used snaps for the closures)

And a flower brooch on the front, staying with the heart theme

And a great big brooch on the chiffon skirt because, well, why not?
Of Course you need the cutest of models for such a gorgeous set
Here is Little Miss A

I also made the shorts and crop top in a pink colour way, Tell you all about it in my next post ;)

FROLIC : play and move about cheerfully, excitedly, or energetically.

Today I am getting to be part of my very first blog tour, YAY!
I am going to show you a couple of patterns I got to test for "My Little Plumcake"
They are from the brand new and totally amazing "Frolic Collection"

I was lucky enough to test the shorts.

You guys remember Little O, right?

This pair is a size 10. I find as girls get older they start to get a bit more shape in their lower half. I made these using cotton sateen so the have a little stretch and should fit her for at least a couple of years.

Little J is growing up too

The pattern suggests cotton, so for this pair I used quilters cotton. The range with cotton is so much better than cotton sateen.

My favourite detail on these shorts is the pleats. They give the shorts some shape rather than looking like pjs.
The curved hem and pockets help too.

I managed to sew these up in less than hour each, which I was totally thrilled about.

Seeing as they were such a quick sew I decided to make matching Jackets.

I went with the cotton sateen again with this one as older girls change shape in the top half too lol.
I really love in the tutorial for the jacket that the designer leaves it upto you where you would like the buttons. For Little O's jacket I went with the middle to help give her a little shape and I used a statement button to draw focus.

I couldn't leave Little J without a jacket

Little J's jacket has a statement button too but this one is at the top. It allows her to show off her sequined top (store bought but still cute)
I tried to keep it fun and girly by adding the contrasting pockets with some lace.

The jacket is fully lined so no itchy, annoying seams :)

The other feature I love is the 3/4 sleeve with the split. Making it easy to "frolic" in lol

These 2 girls are such great little models. Thank you Little O & Little J.

Now if you are really quick you can still grab your copy of the patterns from the Frolic Collection at a discounted price (I love a bargain!!!)

You can get 20% off any purchase using code: CAPSULE. For an even better savings for bundles, use code: BUY2GET1 for buy 2 get 1 free

Here is the link

These codes will work until the 11th of April 2016, so don't wait!

If you need a little more encouragement next week I will show you what I did with the crop top and skirt patterns from the "Frolic Collection"

Some more RubyJune

I have to tell you I love, love, love the Elise pattern by Little Lizard King
They ran a Sew Along (SAL) on their facebook page last week and I just couldn't help myself.
I wanted to try the new variations and seeing as they only want you to post one picture (I did a collage lol) I thought I would finally do some blogging!

Believe it or not one of the first things I did was choose a model.

Little Miss R takes dance classes with LKJ

As you can see I decided to make a top this time.
I made mine nice and full, I used two full widths and 2 layers!

As part of the SAL they gave us a tutorial for adding a flutter sleeve.
I am so in love with this vintage eyelet, it just looks fabulous (well in my humble opinion lol)

There was also new instructions for the back (I think I actually prefer this to the original halter neck)

Lately I have fallen in love with making my own piping, so I added as much piping as I could too :)
This went great with the new tutorial on adding a collar (the options really are endless with this pattern)

At the end of the SAL they do a little show and tell with prizes but I have to tell you I feel like I already won because Little Miss R loved her new top (I think her mum did too) and that is what I truly enjoy about sewing!!!

If you don't own this pattern yet you should! You can buy it here
