Holiday Dress

Back in March I had the opportunity to make up the Holiday Dress designed by Ann Grose for Vintage Made Magazine. I have been patiently waiting ever since to show you these gorgeous pictures of Mackenzie ๐Ÿ’“The magazine is now available so here we go!!!

The sleeve detail on Dita is absolutely stunning. This one is the 3/4 sleeve but there is also a long sleeve option.

It also comes in a few different lengths, this is the shortest

I have added a thin belt in some of the photos but I know others have added an Obi belt.

I worked really hard on my invisible zip, I am very happy with the result.

I love the neck line too, and here is a close up of the sleeve detail.

Here is the picture that made it into the magazine. It shows off all the great features of the pattern.
The neckline, sleeve detail and the cute flippy skirt.

Mackenzie was such a good sport with the photo shoot, looking very 1940's pin up ๐Ÿ˜€

Like really 1940's lol

My fabric choice was cotton sateen from Spotlight. I also opted for a brooch closure on the neck but the pattern includes a button closure.

Sweet Little Things

I really love to sew pretty, sweet things, and there is nothing more sweet than Violette Field Threads Stuffies
Today I wanted to show you my latest ones.
First up we have Sophia

Sophia is made using the Elle Elephant pattern

I added some hand sewn trim over the seam lines on her head to give a more dressed up feel

Her ballet shoes are from the Millie Mouse pattern. They are removable.

She has the sweetest little tail

I sent her off to my sister who is sharing her with her granddaughters
I think she will be well loved.

Next up we have Josephine

Josephine was made using the Millie Mouse pattern

I really love her crown, it is fabric with strong interfacing and lace. The pattern suggests you can use cardboard but I feel this will last much longer. I also hand stitched it to her head so it won't get lost.

Her dress is slightly altered, just longer and tied under her arms for a more romantic feel. I made her a little shawl which comes with the blushing Bunny pattern

I altered her shoes too, this time they are actually sewn into the seams of the legs. I think I like the finish better but it does mean they can't be removed to play with. Which is fine because Josephine is off to my mother's house to sit on mum's bed.

I really, really, really enjoyed sewing these stuffies๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“

Rockin It

I tell you I am getting brave when it comes to sewing for myself

I will probably tell you a million times that I am oddly shaped, I have never been able to buy dresses, but even pants that fit are hard to find.

Now I have Dylan by Designer Stitch in my life I am super happy.

To start my complaining lol,  I have a slightly longer torso at the back than most, but not much bottom, slightly short torso at the front, very little hip and shapely calves.

A big thank you to Ann at Designer Stitch who helped me adjust this pattern for a perfect fit.

Firstly I added 1.5 inches to the back rise using this tutorial

I also adjusted the front rise by removing 1" from the front rise, using this tutorial

because of having no hips I also moved the front seam like it shows in the tutorial to get rid of some bagginess.

For my shapely legs I chose to make my pants from Cotton Sateen. Nice and firm with a bit of stretch.

These are now my favourite pants, back to wearing lots of blue (which make me happy, my husband not so much lol)
