Saturday Sewing

I know its Wednesday lol

I have just a few minutes to quickly show you the project I put together on Saturday

A good friend of ours moved house on Saturday. My darling husband went and helped but with 5 kids I got stuck at home with ballet and child minding duties (no different to ant other day), but I wanted to do something so I chose to make her a house warming gift.

I had been really wanting to try this tutorial since seeing these cushions here.

tada

Some of this lovely fabric is "French General" thanks to Kate Conklins  scraps she left me when she moved to Adelaide.

Here is a couple of work in progress shots

I was really happy with how the pin-wheels turned out but I didn't do so great on the zip :(

bit wonky and too short

It is however functional and at the back where nobody sees, right?

To finish off my gift I made 3 fabric roses using the same material

You can get that tutorial here.

I felt it was probably a bit hectic to take it around on Saturday so we dropped in Sunday after church. Happy to say my gift was warmly received which is always nice

Sew Happy :)

Fallen off the face off the earth

I know its been ages since I wrote but things have been sooooo busy.
I have decided to home school our 4th child Jack. It is very rewarding but also very time consuming.
I have managed to find some time to sew.
So now its time for show and tell :)

Lets start with Kate. She did it again she made me a lovely and practical gift

A pot holder

She did a great job but it made my long 2 hand pot holder look even worse than it already did. You guessed it I had to make me a new one :)
I went down to Spotlight and picked up some matching fabric. I didn't have any insulbright so I got clever and just decided to recover the one I had. I bleached it first so it wouldn't smell lol.

It wasn't too difficult.
Took me about an hour and while its not perfect it looks heaps better and works perfectly :)

Onto clothes
I really want to go to the Craft show coming up at Rosehill, but the budget is tight so I have to fund the trip myself :(
Simple Simon & Co posted this tutorial to make a skirt. So I made one.

I changed it just a little, for example When I did the bottom piece I made it a circle first then sewed it on. I also made a removable flower pin.

Very cute very easy.
It can be worn on the skirt or

on a shirt
or you could attach it to a headband, you get the picture.
Well anyway I posted it on Facebook and a friend asked me to make 2 for her granddaughters. Now I at least have enough money to get there and get in. Now I have to raise spending money lol.

So Kate and I are holding a little workshop where we will show the group how to make these zippered purses.

Its next Monday so wish me luck :)
